Where to stay

EDF Energy Hinkley Point Power Station is in rural Somerset, 10 miles from the historic town of Bridgwater (population c38,000) and within easy access of the hamlets of Wick, Burton, Shurton and Stolford.

The nearest village to the site is Stogursey some 2 miles from the site as the crow flies, and Combwich is around 4 miles away. Other local villages near the construction site include the popular Cannington and the picturesque Nether Stowey.

HPC is 9 miles from Williton and 20 miles from the county town of Taunton.

What to do nearby

Bridgwater is a lively market town with a variety of pubs and restaurants, shops and a cinema. Also close by are the historic towns of Glastonbury, home of the festival, and Wells with its historic cathedral.

Somerset is home to a wide variety of landscapes, architecture and culture, including the city of Bath in the east, Exmoor National Park in the west, the historic town of Crewkerne in the south, and Portishead, the northern most point on the Somerset coast.

For sports enthusiasts, Taunton is the home of Somerset County Cricket Club as well as the racecourse. Nearby Highbridge hosts Somerset Speedway and Bristol and Exeter have top level football and rugby clubs.

For outdoor pursuits, Exmoor National Park is on the doorstep, home to the renowned Quantocks Hills, as is the beautiful North Somerset and Devon coast with access to the South West coastal path.
